Pray for Israel

In Sunday School class this morning, our teacher read Nehemiah 4 and taught on the restoration of the wall as well as restoration in our lives to God and each other. The entire time he was teaching, however, my mind kept picking up on details in the chapter that pertained to modern day Israel and since God has used Nehemiah before, to speak to me about the restoration and healing of the women of our church, I listened to what I think He was saying.

The niches in the wall were made by attacks from their enemies and if you relate that to current events, the niches are things like losing part of Gaza, the Temple Mount being occupied by a mosque, Jerusalem is threatened with being divided up between Israel and the Palestinians, population quotas are being set by other countries, threats and statements of annihilation by Iran, etc.

The enemies are counted as most of the world, including Iran, the Palestinians, the Hamas, United Nations, Syria, Lebanon (the Hezbollah), and President Obama among others.

The Israelites of old prepared to fight off offenders even as they lived and worked. The Jewish people of modern Israel are doing the same. They are in a constant state of preparation to do battle...not to offend, but to defend what is rightfully theirs. They get blamed for every move they make to defend themselves.

Nehemiah prayed that God would judge their enemies unmercifully, knowing that they were also enemies of God. Doesn't this match up with what is going on today? The enemies of Israel are mostly Muslim and enemies of God?

Verse 20 says, "Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us." Don't you think that the trumpet is sounding right now and that our brothers and sisters in the family of God are calling for us to rally with them....that their wall is being breached by their enemies and our "swords" are desperately needed?

The most important thing we can do is pray. God hears our prayers and acts on them. Each time they have had a conflict, whether it was thousands of years ago or 60, God's hand has been visible when the battle was in God's will. They and we must turn to Him for His protection, wisdom, restoration and victory over our enemies. We must pray for Israel's survival, protection and victory.

Spread the word that the very least or maybe the ultimate most that we can do is pray.

"For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch." Isaiah 62:1

  1. I look forward to your blog posts. This one really touched me as I agree about what is said about Israel. They are God's chosen yet there are many in this country and the world who have a different perspective including Obama. God's word speaks to this matter Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families f the earth be blessed. For the first time in our history we have a president who is ignoring these words while in office. Psalm 69:35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. Psalm 102:13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. Psalm 102:16 When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. Psalm 110:2 The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Psalm 129:5 Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion. Psalm 132:13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. Isaiah 62:11-12 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. And they shall call them, The holy people, Thy redeemed of the Lord: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken. Joel 3:16 The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. Micah 4:10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the Lord shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. Micah 4:11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled and let our eye look upon Zion. Micah 4:12 But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. Micah 4:13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. Zephaniah 3:16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. These are but a few of the scriptures in God's word that speak of His chosen people. I tremble when I see and hear what the world is doing in their talks with Israel. God is watching closely!! I agree we need to pray yet it seems that many pray for themselves and not for God's chosen people. We have been moving away from God in this country for decades and still seem to forget how we have mocked Him and His word is clear - Gal 6:7 God will not be mocked. And we have put many, many idols before Him and His word is clear - there are to be no other idols before Him. You mentioned in this writing that you have had God speak to you. I pray for this supernatural encounter to take place in my walk with Him. I look forward to your next blog!!
